It keeps getting better

Filed under: General — makani @ 9:40 am

Ok, so I made it to VA with no troubles, the roads were clear and smooth.

However, the house we’re staying in is being a bit more trouble.
As of this typing we don’t have a range and we managed to blow a fuse when we tried to use the microwave this morning when we tried to make breakfast. The result is that half the kitchen is out, including the plug that the fridge is on. *sigh*
We took our half finished oat meal to J’s house and her mother was kind enough to let us use her microwave so we could eat. I have no idea what I’m going to do for lunch and all this since we don’t really have much in the way of food yet.

The quasi good news is that the Coffee Shop here has a wireless internet connection. The bad news is that sometimes it takes about 10 mintues to get it to go to a page. Getting to this page took me ten mintues and I know that my domain isn’t down. *sigh*

I’m hoping to be able to get to the coffee shop once or twice a week to use the internet with my computer.

We’ll see how everything goes, hopefully we’ll have a microwave and stove by tonight.

I hear ya’ll have a lot of snow up there in MA.

HAHA!

Ok, I won’t laugh too hard since I had to drive through a blizzard to get to my cousin’s house.
Oh well, shovel one for me guys! ;p

Almost ready

Filed under: General — makani @ 1:05 pm

So, I’m leaving Saturday morning and I’m almost done packing everything. There’s still some computer equipment that needs to find a home and hopefully it will all fit in my car. My cell phone will likely work at its current number for sometime, so you can reach me that way. When the number changes those of you who need to know the new number will have a way of finding out what it is. Sorry all you internet stalkers. ;p

I’m so not looking foreword to the drive but it’s just another step.

It’s been great folks and I’ll be back sometime in May or June to move the rest of my things.
Wish me luck and pray that other drivers don’t get stuck behind this grandma of the road.

Finally!

Filed under: General — makani @ 2:11 pm

Hey folks, Chapter 3 of Life After Roses is up at The SunTemple.

Now all I have to do is write chapter 4…but hopefully that won’t take as long. I’m also still thinking of eventually putting up what I’ve managed to get done on my long Harry Potter fic, but my wonderful beta must approve the idea first.

Now it’s my Car…

Filed under: General — makani @ 2:12 pm

The car is now finally officially and legally mine. I got it insured, registered and inspected today to the tune of $305…so much for new tires. The upshot of this is the car is totally mine, in my name, with new plates and everything. The downside would be the amount of money that I just spent to get it done. But that’s life, whatchagonnado?

It didn’t take all that long to get it done either. We filled out all the forms we had last night and then this morning we went to the insurance company. (After a brief side trip to get my wallet and remove the old plates from the car.) We went from there to the registry which turned out to be less than and easy task because we’re having heavy fog today. The RMV was very quick. I think we were in there for ten minutes tops. Then it was off to the inspection station to have my car reinspected. That took the longest clocking in at around 30 minutes. After that we made a quick trip back to the insurance agent to drop off the rest of the paper work and it’s done!

I don’t have me Enkidu plates yet but that’s because the car will only be registered here in MA for about half a year, maybe less. It’s not worth paying the extra money to have them made. Although WuKung will also fit on a plate so it’s going to be hard to decide which to get. (Unless VA has a similar fee table as MA in which case it’ll be regular plates until I can afford the fees.)

That said and done, I will get around $100 back from my dad for paying the car insurance the first time and around $200 from some stock so it’ll cover at least a bit of that, thankfully. I’m also doing a tad of freelance work but I don’t know how much it will pay but anything is better than nothing.

And then she vanishes, but returns, with links!

Filed under: General — makani @ 1:04 pm

I post on New Years and then I vanish. Sorry about that.

I’ve been working on my Harry/Draco and Life After Roses. Hopefully I’ll have those chapters up for you all soon. All three of you!

In the meantime, why don’t you check out a few selections from the Weebl and Bob Advent Calendar. Or you could view a lovely D&D Parody

Or you could try an anime type online forum with cute little avatars. Try Gaia Online anime roleplaying community.

Or baring that you could just go read the Quotes page at The SunTemple. It hasn’t updated but it’s always good for a laugh.
